APG 11760312 5/16" Carbon Fiber with Graphite Coating Packing, (10 lb.)

Interbraid construction. A unique combination of amorphous carbon yarns treated throughout with fine particles of graphite. Recommended for general service rotating and reciprocating shafts, high temperature valves. For all chemical services in which carbon is suitable. For shaft speeds up to 3,000 FPM; temperatures to 650°F/345°C in oxidizing atmospheres; 1200°F/650°C in steam; pH range 0-14 except in strong oxidizers. An excellent alternative in applications where asbestos packings are not permitted and graphite yarn packings are too expensive. Does not have quite the low coefficient of friction and the heat conductivity of pure graphite filaments, but carbon yarns treated with graphite exhibit better heat conductivity and frictional characteristics than either asbestos or TFE.
