SharkBite Push-to-Connect Manifolds: Benefits & Installation

Contents

Introduction

Recently, PEX plumbing has become popular. As PEX plumbing pipes are cost-effective and versatile, more and more people use them instead of traditional copper pipes. And a plumbing manifold plays a key role in this system. Similarly, for homes with in-floor, hydronic, or radiant heating, a plumbing manifold is also used.

In this article, let’s consider some of the best SharkBite manifolds and figure out how to install them.

Why Choose SharkBite Push-to-Connect Manifolds?

A plumbing manifold by SharkBite is a time saver if you need to connect multiple supply lines in one place. These manifolds are used in areas where services are concentrated (for example, distribution points for entire houses). SharkBite push-to-connect manifolds are easy to install and reduce leaking risks associated with excessive connection points. Cost-effectiveness is another advantage of these manifolds. They allow longer runs of pipe with fewer fittings needed.

On Mega Depot, choose from a wide range of SharkBite manifolds.

Popular Products

There are 12-port and 24-port models available. These manifolds allow for the central control of all water lines throughout the home. They are designed for use in a PEX system.

Features & Benefits:

  • PEX pipe compatibility
  • No need for any special tools, glue, crimping, or soldering
  • Suitable for behind-the-wall applications without access panels
  • Reduce the risk of leaks by eliminating excess connection points
  • Quick & easy installation thanks to a push-to-connect design

Radiant Heating Manifolds

Popular Products

On Mega Depot, there are many SharkBite radiant heating manifolds with different port numbers:

Radiant heating manifolds ensure that the flow to each circuit is regulated precisely while controlling shut-off and allowing air venting from the heating system. These manifolds have an innovative push-to-connect design with a 1" FNPT inlet and 1/2" SharkBite connections on the loop ports making connecting the loops to the manifold much faster and easier (compared to other connection methods). Quality stainless steel ensures corrosion resistance as well as durability. With these manifolds, the risk of leaks is minimized and excess connection points are eliminated. The manifolds are intended for use in a PEX system.

Features & Benefits:

  • Fluid is heated by a water heater (or boiler) and then distributed through the different PEX tubing circuits by the manifold
  • Temperature gauges on both the supply & return manifolds to ensure proper supply temperature and assess heat loss at the return manifold
  • These manifolds have flow balancing valves & flow meters to avoid unnecessary waste and ensure an optimal thermal comfort level
  • They have a 1" FNPT inlet - integrated air vent & drain
  • No special tools, crimping, glue, or soldering are needed
  • Removal is easy with a disconnect clip (sold separately)
  • Rated for 200 psi & 200°F (93°C)

How to Install a Push-to-Connect Manifold?

It is important to understand how to install your manifold so that everything works correctly. Here are a few simple steps on how to install a SharkBite push-to-connect manifold.

Installation

1. Cut the SharkBite PEX pipe to the desired length, making sure the ends are cut square. Check that the outside surface is free from damage, debris, abrasions, cuts, etc.

Cut the SharkBite PEX pipe

2. Use the SharkBite Depth & Deburr tool to deburr the tube ends, then mark the correct insertion depth on the PEX. Note that for 1/2" fittings, the insertion depth of the pipe is 15/16", and for 3/4" fittings, it's 1-1/8".

3. Push the PEX pipe into the manifold fitting until it reaches the depth mark.

4. The connection is now complete. Repeat this process with the remaining connections.

Removal

1. Position the SharkBite disconnect clip around the pipe with the non-branded side against the release collar.

2. Push the clip against the release collar while pulling & twisting the pipe to release it.

3. Check the fitting and pipe end for damage. They should be free from any damage, marks, as well as foreign objects on the outside diameter. In case the pipe is damaged/marked, cut it and use a new section.
