Fast and easy installation is one of the main benefits of SharkBite push-to-connect fittings. How to install a SharkBite fitting? Follow the steps below.
Step 1 - Determine the material of the pipe.
Brass push-to-connect fittings made by SharkBite are compatible with PEX, PE-RT, copper, as well as HDPE pipes. They come with a PEX stiffener pre-loaded into the fitting for PEX & HDPE, which does not need to be removed when connecting to copper or CPVC products.
Step 2 - Cut the pipe squarely.
Make sure that your pipe is free of debris as well as scratches and then cut the pipe. For a copper pipe, use a deburr & gauge tool to get rid of sharp edges/burrs on the pipe.
Step 3 - Measure & mark the insertion depth.
Using the deburr & gauge tool, measure and mark the proper insertion depth on the pipe.
Step 4 - Make the connection.
Push the fitting to the insertion mark on your pipe. Then, turn on the water to check the connection.
