The Mercoid DA/DS series pressure switches are used to monitor pressure in various applications, including compressors, HVAC & process equipment, and pump control.
In this article, you will find out how to install and operate the Mercoid Series DA/DS-7000 Bourdon tube pressure switches.
The Series DA/DS-7000 Bourdon tube pressure switches (for example, the Mercoid DA-7031-153-9 pressure switch) are SPDT snap-action switches known for their high sensitivity & repeatability. They feature adjustable set & reset points through non-interactive adjustments (external). There are visible calibrated dials for set points as well as on-off indicators to show actuation. The DA switches offer 2 external adjustments: one for the high pressure operating point and another for the reset point. The deadband is adjustable over the full scale. DS pressure switches have a fixed deadband.
You can mount the switch in any position. It’s best to choose a location suggested by the manufacturer of your equipment. For areas with excessive vibration, consider mounting the switch remotely using a suitable connection & mounting bracket.
Avoid twisting the case during installation. Use a wrench on the square section of the control connection. On controls with operating Range No. 15S (500 - 5000 psi) or Range No. 16S (800 - 8000 psi), ensure that the sealing nut with PTFE insert is turned to the uppermost threaded part of the 1/2" pressure connection. When piping the control, apply a flat open-end wrench to the flat side of the bottom pressure connection.
Once the control is properly connected, tighten the sealing nut for a leak-proof connection.

The DA pressure switches are double-adjustment switches.
Adjust the upper pointer "U" to set the HIGH PRESSURE OPERATING POINT. Adjust the lower pointer "L" to set the LOW PRESSURE OPERATING POINT.
Note that the difference between the "U" & "L" pointers represents the operating differential between "on-off" switch operation.
The DS pressure switches have a single adjustment. The differential is non-adjustable. The single pointer on the scale sets the pressure at which the operation of the switch occurs.
Once the control has been set to the desired range, insert the locking bar between the adjustment screws, ensuring the slot passes over the projecting lugs. To prevent any tampering with the adjustments, place a sealing wire between the locking bar & the hole in the lug protruding from the adjustment assembly.
We hope that now you know how to install and operate the Mercoid Series DA/DS-7000 Bourdon tube pressure switches. The installation is stress-free and the operation is easy if you follow the instructions.
