These sleek markers are primarily designed for marking objects buried in the soil to depths down to one meter (3ft) or slightly more. This encompasses most utilities' "distribution" ducts and similar applications such as Cable TV or fiber "drops," traffic light control cables, power, gas or district heating lines to properties. Spikes are ideal for use in shallower and narrower ducts.
Marking utilities by use of electronic marker systems greatly enhances the precision of location, particularly of "non-conductive" and "non-ferrous" cables, pipes and ducts. Spike markers are ideal for marking "key" points in networks such as tees and valves and placement in or alongside junction boxes that may be overgrown in time.
