Skimming devices are applied in oil spillage clean-up procedures. They are regularly utilized to clean contaminated water, coolant, and similar substances. Water-cleaning skimmers are applied in industrial complexes as well as to clean oil spills in the ocean. These devices vary in their operation type. The first type is called weir. It floats in the body of water that is being cleaned, with the inlet just below the surface level. The pump sucks in the upper layer of the contaminated fluid and transports it via a pipe to a collection reservoir. The other two types (oleophilic & non-oleophilic) are similar in their operation principle, they both use disks, ropes, tapes, or drums to retract oil. Non-oleophilic utilize metal components. These devices are more frequently used in enclosed containers.
