Hydrostatic Test Pumps

Hydrostatic testing is extremely important if you use equipment that is subjected to high pressure.

A hydrostatic test pump is used to test pressure in a water/gas line. It can be used in both residential as well as commercial buildings.

Types

To choose the right pump, you should be aware of its main types.

Diaphragm hydrostatic test pumps offer pressure ranges up to 600 PSI and flow rates up to 56 gallons per minute. These are medium pressure large volume units that can test up to 96” and above diameter lines.

Piston and roller hydrostatic test pumps are medium PSI pumps. Typically, they are used in testing water, landscaping, irrigation, as well as plumbing lines. With these pumps, you can test lines up to 16” in diameter, with volumes up to 10 gallons per minute & pressures up to 400 PSI.

Electric hydrostatic test pumps are low volume high-pressure hydrostatic test pumps. They offer flow rates up to 8 gallons per minute and pressures up to 1800 PSI. These pumps are ideal for testing sprinkler systems, irrigation lines, pressure vessels, and more.

High-pressure pneumatic hydrostatic test pumps offer pressure ranges up to 30 000 PSI & flow rates up to 7 gallons per minute. These units can start/stop while under pressure.

Hand-operated hydrostatic test pumps have three pressure ranges: 500 PSI, 1000 PSI, and 1500 PSI. These pumps are used for testing small diameter water lines in landscaping, plumbing, etc. They are perfect for residential applications.

Applications

Hydrostatic test pumps are used in a wide range of applications.

Sprinkler systems need to be tested regularly so that pressure can be maintained when activated.

Cooling systems - cylinders/coils for AC or refrigeration units are tested on the regular basis. It is especially important when it comes to facilities where climate control is critical, industrial electrical enclosures, military and municipal vehicles, etc.

Fire hoses are tested so they don’t rupture. As a rule, these hoses are tested before their installation in fire trucks or prior to being brought to fire stations.

Pipe manufacturing - pipes are needed to be tested so they won’t fail, especially if we are talking about such critical applications as, for instance, naval defense vessels.

Applications also include oil & gas pipelines, gas cylinders, sewer water lines, the list goes on.

Hydrostatic test pumps are used in construction, chemical, military, and other spheres.
